An impromptu game was held at the clubhouse and the general vibe was most players are scared shitless for game seven Canucks and Stars.
The cards dropped with six players making an appearance at the space for a round of texas hold 'em VP style. In seat one we had Tallulah Winkelman, seat two was David Mcgowan, seat three was Tobias Berner, seat four was Mr. Alan Wong-Moon, seat five was Drew Mccreadie of the clan McCreadie and rounding out the game was the always dangerous Justin Leigh. The game started with fireworks right away as Dave was dealt pocket rockets in early postion. He raised it up and met with two re-raises around the table one from Alan, pocket Jacks and one from Drew king queen off suit. Dave re-raised again all-in and Alan and Drew both called! Dave managed to have his aces hold up all the way and took down a huge six thousand dollar pot in the very first hand busting out two players before their seats were even warm. What a start. Alans luck seemed to focus on the aces all night, he had pocket rockets three times throughout the game and was beaten twice by Toby while he had the monster, once with a hidden two pair after the flop and once by totally drawing out with a Qh-Jh flush draw that actually hit on the turn. All of the players were playing well and it made for a long game but it came down to Alan and Toby heads up after Tallulah was eliminated in third place by Alan sucking out with a drawing hand. The heads up battle was ferocious - huge stacks of chips went back and forth as Alan and Toby battled heads up for almost an hour and half! It was highly reminiscent of the Dallas Vancouver series. With almost a 2-1 chip lead Toby tried to eliminate Alan but time after time Alan's luck held up and he was able to flop the cards he needed and make the come back. Finally it came down to Alan with the chip lead just barely, he called an all-in by Toby who was holding Q-J. Alan had one King in his hand and that was all he needed to take down the $180 for first place. Alan was solely responsible for juicing the pot all night as he busted out three times before the cut off and was in the pot for $100 so he won back his money plus some. Toby only bought in once and took down $80 for second place. Great game, everyone had their game on, let's hope the Canucks bring the same intensity to game seven and move on to the second round.
Go Canucks Go!!!
